Southern Cal Joins Dawgs, Michigan, TCU In CFP's Top Four

The Southern California Trojans joined the top four in the final regular-season edition of the College Football Playoff Rankings released on Tuesday.


The Trojans are at #4 (up two spots from last week) while Georgia, Michigan (up one spot), and TCU (also up a spot) occupy the top three spots.


Ohio State, at #2 last week, dropped down to #5 while Alabama climbed up a spot to #6.


As far as the Pac-12 Conference is concerned, beside the Trojans, the Utah Runnin' Utes are at #11 (up three spots), the Washington Huskies are at #12 (up one spot), the Oregon State Beavers climbed up six spots to #15, the Oregon Ducks dropped down seven spots to #16, and the UCLA Bruins are at #17 (up a spot).

Clippers Knock Off Blazers In Portland

At Moda Center at the Rose Garden, Portland, Oregon:


Norman Powell came off the bench to score 32 points on Tuesday as the Los Angeles Clippers (13-9) came back from down 13 points at the start of the fourth quarter to upend the homestanding Portland Trail Blazers (11-10) 118-112.


Reggie Jackson added 24 points to the Clippers' coffers.

Support For Ducks In Men's Hoop Polls

 In Wednesday's men's college basketball polls, the Oregon Ducks have enough support in the Associated Press poll where they would be ranked #40.  


They had no support in the USA Today/Coaches poll and non of Oregon's other men's Division I programs had any support in either poll.

Ducks, Beavers Climb Up Both Gridiron Polls

 After their Saturday wins over Utah and Arizona State, respectively, the Oregon Ducks and Oregon State Beavers climbed up both the Associated Press and USA Today/Coaches college football polls that were released on Sunday.


The Ducks climbed up two spots to #10 in the former and up four spots to #9 in the latter.


The Beavers climbed up three spots to #22 in the AP poll and entered the Coaches' rankings at # 22. 

109th Grey Cup Final: Argos Top Blue Bombers For Crown

The Toronto Argonauts blocked a field goal attempt and they defeated the two-time defending champion Winnipeg Blue Bombers 24-23 and won Sunday's 109th edition of the Grey Cup Final and won their first Canadian Football League championship since 2017.

Devils Plug Habs In Montreal For Tenth Straight Victory

Jack Hughes scored twice as the New Jersey Devils (13-3-0, 26 points) overpowered the homestanding Montreal Canadiens (8-7-1) 5-1 on Tuesday for their tenth consecutive victory.


Goalie Vitek Vanecek stopped 25 of 26 shots for the red-hot Devils, now riding the third longest winning streak in franchise history.

Blazers Top Visiting Spurs

Jerami Grant scored 29 points and grabbed eight rebounds on Tuesday as the Portland Trail Blazers (10-4) defeated the visiting San Antonio Spurs (6-9) 117-110,


Anfernee Simons added 23 points and Damian Lillard 22 (to go with his 11 assists) to the Blazers' coffers.


Jokob Poeltl led the Spurs with 31 points while pulling down 14 boards; Devin Vassell added 21 and Keldon Johnson 20.

Beavers Stay Unbeaten

Glenn Taylor, Jr. scored 19 points as the Oregon State Beavers (3-0) defeated the NAIA Bushnell University Beacons 83-66.

 Both divisional finals in the Grey Cup Playoffs took place on Sunday.


EASTERN DIVISION FINAL:

McLeod Bethel-Thompson threw for two touchdowns and nearly 300 yards as the Toronto Argonauts defeated the visiting Montreal Alouettes 34-27.




WESTERN DIVISION FINAL:


At IG Field, Winnipeg, Manitoba:


Zach Collaros completed 14 of 20 passes for 178 yards and a touchdown as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers defeated the visiting British Columbia Lions 28-20 play for their third straight Grey Cup championship.




109th edition of the Grey Cup Game is set to take place next Sunday at Mosaic Stadium in Regina, Saskatchewan at 3:00 PM Pacific Time (ESPN 2)

Ducks Fall Out Of Both Hoops Polls

 After dropping a home decision to UC-Irvine, the Oregon Ducks, who were ranked at #21 in both the Associated Press and USA Today/Coaches men's basketball polls, fell out.


They would be tied for 33rd place (with Ohio State and Iowa) in the former and in 30th place in the latter.
