FIFA World Cup Qualifying (CONCACAF): The Road To Qatar Begins

The opening round of CONCACAF-zone qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup opened on Wednesday with five games.


GROUP A:


At Willemstad, Curacao:


Eugene Kirwan (23') and D'Andre Bishop (45') each scored once as designated hosts Antigua and Barbuda gained a 2-2 draw with Montserrat.


Lyle Taylor scored both of the Emerald Boys' goals (PK-7', 26')




GROUP B:


At Paramaribo, Suriname:


Shaquille Pinas (22'), Ryan Donk (PK-38'), and Gleofilo Vlijter (76') each scored once as Suriname dominated visiting Cayman Islands 3-0.




GROUP C:


At Guatemala City:


Luis Martinez scored the only goal of Guatemala's 1-0 home victory over Cuba in the 59th minute.




GROUP D:


At Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic:


Fran Nunez scored the game's lone goal in the 52nd minute as the Dominican Republic defeated visiting Dominica 1-0.




GROUP F:


At San Cristobal, Dominican Republic:


Vinceroy Nelson's goal in the 42nd minute provided all the scoring as Saint Kitts and Nevis, the designated hosts, defeated visiting Puerto Rico 1-0.
