FIFA World Cup: Goose Eggs For Team USA And England; Iran Knock Off Wales; Senegal Wins; Ecuador and The Netherlands Draw; Qatar Eliminated

 The second cycle of FIFA World Cup group-stage games opened on Friday in Qatar with four games.


GROUP A:


At Thumama Stadium, Doha:


Famara Diedhiou scored the game winner in the 48th minute as Senegal defeated (and eliminated) hosts Qatar 3-1.


At Khalifa International Stadium, Al Rayyan:


Enner Valencia's equalizer in the 49th minute carried Ecuador to a 1-1 draw with the Netherlands.


Cody Gakpo scored for the Dutch in the sixth minute.


Group A Standings:

2.    Ecuador (GP: 2; GD: +2; PTS: 4)

The match between England and the United States resulted in a 0-0 stalemate.
