Jonathan David scored the game winner at 73 minutes as Canada remained at the top of the Octagonal Group after their 2-0 road blanking of Honduras.
At National Stadium, San Jose, Costa Rica:
Bryan Ruiz scored the game's lone goal in the 65th minute as Costa Rica gained a critical 1-0 home win over Panama.
