At Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, North Carolina:
Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo completed 18 of 30 passed for 253 yards and two touchdowns (one each to Tevin Coleman---who also ran for a score---and Deebo Samuel) as the San Francisco 49ers took sole possession of first place in the NFC's Western Division after dominating the homestanding Carolina Panthers 37-15 on Sunday.
The Panthers, losers of ten of their last eleven games, dismissed head coach Matt Rhule (whose record fell to 11-27) on Monday, replaced on an interim basis by defensive assistant (and ex-Arizona Cardinals head coach) Steve Wilks.
