Giants Win Slugfest With Mets To End Losing Streak


At Oracle Park, San Francisco:


Joc Pederson banged three home runs and drove in a career-high runs on Tuesday (including a game-tying single in the ninth inning) as the San Francisco Giants (23-19) outlasted the visiting New York Mets (29-16) 13-12 to snap a five-game skid.


The two clubs delivered a combined 37 hits (Giants 19, Mets 18).


NBA Playoffs: Mavs Avoid Sweep, Extend West Finals To Fifth Game


At Dallas:


Luka Doncic scored 30 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, and dished out nine assists while Dorian Finney-Smith added 23 as the Dallas Mavericks, with six players scoring in double figures on Tuesday as they avoided the sweep and outgunned the visiting Golden State Warriors 119-109 in game five of the NBA's Western Conference Finals.


Stephen Curry (one of seven Warriors to score in double figures) topped Golden State's balanced offense with 20 points while dishing out eight assists.


The Warriors, still up three games to one, can lock up a berth in the NBA Finals with a game-five victory on Thursday, back home in San Francisco.


Stanley Cup Playoffs:  Rangers Square Series With Canes At 2-2; Oilers One Win Away From Capturinig Battle of Alberta


The Stanley Cup Playoffs continued on Tuesday with two games.


EASTERN CONFERENCE:


At New York:


Andrew Copp scored once and assisted once as the New York Rangers leveled their conference semifinal series with the Carolina Hurricanes at two games apiece after taking game four 4-1 at home.


The Hurricanes, unbeaten at home in the playoffs, remain winless away from Raleigh.


WESTERN CONFERENCE:


At Edmonton, Alberta:


Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored twice as the Edmonton Oilers held off the visiting Calgary Flames 5-3 in the fourth game of their series.


The Oilers, up three games to one, can close out the series in Calgary on Thursday with a game-five triumph.

In Sunday play from MLS Next Pro, in the third level of the American soccer pyramid, Josh Dolling scored twice (49', 62'), Saint Louis City II (an affiliate of Major League Soccer's Saint Louis City SC----which is set to begin play next year) upended visiting Portland Timbers 2 by a 3-1 score.
