AS ROMA HOLD OFF FEYENOORD FOR EUROPA CONFERENCE LEAGUE TITLE AND EUROPA LEAGUE GROUP-STAGE BERTH

Nicolo Zaniolo scored the only goal of the match in the 32nd minute on Wednesday as AS Roma defeated Feyenoord Rotterdam 1-0 to capture the inaugural Europa Conference League title and a berth in the group stage of next season's Europa League.


It was the Wolves' first-ever European trophy and their first trophy since winning the Coppa Italia crown in 2007-08.


For Roma manager Jose Mourinho, he became the first manager to win European club trophies with four different clubs.

Evan Longoria homered twice and Joc Pederson once on Wednesday as the San Francisco Giants (24-19) dominated the visiting New York Mets (29-17) 9-3 to take the series two games to one.




NBA Playoffs:  Celics Upend Heat In Miami; One Win From Finals


At Miami:


Jaylen Brown scored 25 points while Jayson Tatum added 22 (to go with his 12 rebounds and nine assists) on Wednesday as the Boston Celtics outscored the homestanding Miami Heat 56-38 in the second half en route to a 93-80 game-five victory to take a three-games-to-two advantage in the NBA's Eastern Conference Finals.


Bam Adebayo topped the Heat with 18 points while grabbing ten boards.


The Celtics can close out the series and advance to the NBA Finals with a game-six victory back home in Boston on Friday.


It would the Celtics' first trip to the Finals since 2010 (Boston last won the championship in 2008).




Stanley Cup Playoffs:  Blues' OT Goal Forces Series With Avalanche To Sixth Game Back Home


At Denver:


Tyler Bozak scored the winning goal at 3:38 of overtime on Wednesday as the St. Louis Blues avoided elimination by overcoming a 3-0 deficit, then knocking off the homestanding Colorado Avalanche 5-4 in game five of their Western Conference semifinal series as the Stanley Cup Playoffs continued.


Robert Thomas scored twice for the Blues, with his late equalizer forcing the extra period.


Nathan MacKinnon produced a hat trick for the Avalanche, who still lead the series three games to two and can still close it out with a game-six win in St. Louis on Friday.
