The Stanley Cup Playoffs continued on Monday with four games.
WESTERN CONFERENCE:
At Nashville, Tennessee:
Valeri Nichushkin scored the go-ahead goal with 7:58 remaining as the Colorado Avalanche became the first team to advance to the second round as they completed a four-game opening-round series sweep of the Nashville Predators after their 5-3 road victory in game four.
At Dallas:
Rasmus Andersson scored his team's first power-play goal since early in the series opener as the Calgary Flames squared their conference quarterfinal series with the Dallas Stars at two games apiece after their 4-1 road win in game four.
EASTERN CONFERENCE:
At Washington:
One of Carter Verhaeghe's two goals came with 4:57 time expired in overtime as the Florida Panthers upended the Washington Capitals 3-2 in game four of their opening-round series, now squared at two games apiece.
At Pittsburgh:
Sidney Crosby scored once and assisted thrice as the Pittsburgh Penguins again chased goalie Igor Shesterkin and overpowered the visiting New York Rangers 7-2 in game five of their conference quarterfinal series.
The Penguins, up three games to one, can finish off the Rangers with a game-five victory in New York City on Wednesday.
NBA Playoffs: Celtics Level Series With Bucks At 2-2; Warriors One Victory Away From West Final
The NBA Playoffs continued on Monday with two games.
EASTERN CONFERENCE:
At Milwaukee:
Al Horford and Jayson Tatum each scored 30 points (with the former grabbing eight rebounds and the latter pulling down 13 boards) as the Boston Celtics leveled their conference semifinal series at two games apiece after their 116-108 road win over the Milwaukee Bucks.
Giannis Antetokounmpo paced the Bucks with 34 points while grabbing 18 rebounds.
WESTERN CONFERENCE:
At San Francisco:
Stephen Curry scored 32 points (while converting eight free throws in the final 45.7 seconds) and dished out eight assists as the Golden State Warriors, who trailed by seven points as the fourth quarter commenced, battled back to overtake the visiting Memphis Grizzlies 101-98 in game four of their series for a three-games-to-one series advantage.
Jaren Jackson, Jr. paced the Ja Morant-less Grizzlies with 21 points.
The Warriors can close out the series with a game-five win in Memphis on Wednesday.
Giants Top Rockies At Home
At Oracle Park, San Francisco:
Mauricio Dubon hat a home run (one of his three hits) and produced three runs batted in while Carlos Rodon struck out 12 batters in six innings as the San Francisco Giants (17-12) picked up their third straight win on Monday, 8-5 over the visiting Colorado Rockies (16-13).
