Giants Hold Off Cardinals


At Oracle Park, San Francisco:


Mike Yastrzemski hit a tie-breaking home run into McCovey Cove while the San Francisco Giants struck out only once on Sunday as they gained a split of their four-game series with the St. Louis Cardinals with a 4-3 home victory as both teams find themselves at 16-12.


NBA Playoffs: Sixers, Mavericks Level Their Respective Series At 2-2


The NBA Playoffs continued on Sunday with two games.


EASTERN CONFERENCE:


At Philadelphia:


James Hardin (31 points, seven rebounds, nine assists) and Joel Embiid (24 points, eleven rebounds) helped the Philadelphia 76ers (with six players---including all five starters---scoring in double figures) hold off the visiting Miami Heat 116-108 in game four to square their conference semifinal series at two games apiece.


Jimmy Butler led the Heat with 40 points while Bam Adebayo added 21.


WESTERN CONFERENCE:


At Dallas:


Luka Doncic scored 26 points and dished out 11 assists and helped lead the Dallas Mavericks to a series-tying 111-101 game four home victory over the Phoenix Suns as the series is now level at two games apiece.


Dorian Finney-Smith added 24 points to the Mavericks' coffers while pulling in eight rebounds.


Six Mavericks scored in double figures.


Devin Booker topped the Suns with 35 points.




Stanley Cup Playoffs: Bruins, Blues, Lightning, Kings Level Respective Series At 2-2


The Stanley Cup Playoffs' opening round continued on Sunday with four games.


EASTERN CONFERENCE:


At Boston:


Brad Marchand scored twice as the Boston Bruins downed the visiting Carolina Hurricanes 5-2 in game four of their conference quarterfinal series, now deadlocked at two games apiece.


At Tampa, Florida:


Ross Colton scored twice as the Tampa Bay Lightning overpowered the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs 7-3 in game four and squared their series at two games apiece.


WESTERN CONFERENCE:


At St. Louis:


Jordan Kyron and David Perron each tallied twice while Jordan Binnington saved 28 of 30 shots as the St. Louis Blues leveled their opening-round series with the Minnesota Wild at two games apiece after their 5-2 game-four home win.


At Los Angeles:


Carl Grundstrom scored twice in the third period while Jonathan Quick saved all 31 shots as the Los Angeles Kings blanked the visiting Edmonton Oilers 4-0 in game four of their series, now stalemated at two games apiece.




Breakers Bounce Back To Upend Gamblers


At Protective Stadium, Birmingham, Alabama:


The New Orleans Breakers (3-1) came from behind on Sunday and upended the Houston Gamblers (1-3) 23-16 in United States Football League action.


Quakes II Smother T2 At Home


In Sunday MLS Next Pro action, Jack Skahan (PG--15'), Diego Otoya (29'), and Jerry Ayon (86') each scored once as San Jose Earthquakes II dominated visiting Portland Timbers on Sunday by a score of 3-0.
