Leonardo Campana (27') and Robert Taylor (59') each scored once on Saturday as Inter Miami handed the visiting Portland Timbers third third straight Major League Soccer defeat, 2-1.


Bill Tuiloma scored the lone Timbers tally in the 78th minute.


Reds Hold Off Giants Again


At Great American Ball Park, Cincinnati:


Right Fielder Aristides Aquino threw out pinch-runner Joey Bart to close out the game on Saturday as the Cincinnati Reds (16-30) held off he visiting San Francisco Giants (24-21) 3-2.


The Reds got all their runs from Kyle Farmer's opening-inning three-run round-tripper and that proved to be just enough.


Stanley Cup Playoffs:  Rangers Keep Canes Winless On Road, Force Game Seven In Raleigh

Filip Chytil scored twice while goalie Igor Shesterkin saved 27 of 29 shots (and assisted twice, only the fifth netminder in NHL history to have two assists in a playoff game) on Saturday as the New York Rangers stiffed the visiting Carolina Hurricanes 5-2 to square their Eastern Conference semifinal series at three games apiece.


The series will conclude on Monday in Raleigh, where the Canes are unbeaten; conversely, the defeat kept Carolina winless away from home.


Breakers Make USFL History By Beating Panthers In OT Shootout


At Protective Stadium, Birmingham, Alabama:


Quarterback Kyle Sloter, who threw for two touchdowns in regulation, scored the game-winning two-point conversion on Saturday in the United States Football League's first-ever overtime shootout as the New Orleans Breakers (5-2) overcame the Michigan Panthers (1-6) 31-27.


Forest Return To Top Flight For First Time Since 1999

Levi Colwill's own goal in the 43rd minute on Sunday as Nottingham Forest upended Huddersfield Town 1-0 in the English Football Championship's promotion playoff final, enabling the Reds to win promotion to the English Premier League as they will play in the top flight for the first time since 1999, joining Fulham and AFC Bournemouth, who gained automatic promotion by finishing in the Championship's top two.


Giants Bounce Back, Knock Off Reds In Cincy

Evan Longoria's fourth home run in as many games on Sunday lifted the San Francisco Giants (25-21) to a 6-4 road win over the Cincinnati Reds (16-31).

Ronnie Hawkins, the veteran rock n' roll singer and instrumentalist passed away on Sunday at age 87.  Some consider the Arkansas-born Mr. Hawkins as the father of Canadian rock n' roll.
