NBA Playoffs:  Bucks, Warriors Take Series Openers On Road


The quarterfinal round of the NBA Playoffs commenced on Sunday with two games.


EASTERN CONFERENCE:


At Boston:


Giannis Antetokounmpo produced a triple double (24 points, 13 rebounds, 12 rebounds) as the Milwaukee Bucks took the opening game of their conference semifinal series on the road, 101-89 over the Boston Celtics.


Jrue Holiday led the Bucks with 25 points while grabbing nine boards.


Jayson Tatum topped the Celtics with 21 points.


WESTERN CONFERNCE:


At Memphis, Tennessee:


Despite the ejection of Draymond Green (who scored six points), the Golden State Warriors, with Klay Thompson knocking in a go-ahead three-pointer with 36 seconds remaining) knocked off the homestanding Memphis Grizzlies 117-116 in their series-opening contest.


Jordan Poole came off the bench to top the Warriors with 31 points while grabbing eight boards and dishing out nine rebounds while Stephen Curry added 24 points to the Golden State coffers.


Ja Morant (who grabbed nine rebounds and dished out 10 rebounds) and Jaren Jackson, Jr. (with 10 boards) paced the Griz with 34 and 33 points respectively.


Weekend Soccer Leftovers


At Mainz, Germany:


Moussa Niakhate scored the game winner in the 27th minute on Saturday as FSV Mainz 05 knocked off visiting Bayern Munich 3-1 in German Bundesliga action.


At Madrid:


Rodrygo scored twice (33', 43') on Saturday as Real Madrid locked up the Spanish Primera Division title by demolishing visiting Espanyol 4-0.


At Belfast, Northern Ireland:


Ben Hall (43') and Chris McKee (45'+2) each scored once in the waning moments of the opening half on Saturday as Linfield found themselves atop the Northern Irish Premiership's Championship Group standings after blanking visiting Coleraine 2-0.


At Lugano, Switzerland:


Grasshoppers drew closer to assuring Swiss Super League safety on Saturday with their 1-1 road draw with Lugano.


Leo Bonatini scored for the Hoppers in the 58th minute while Jonathan Sabbatini equalized for the hosts at 75 minutes.


At Fontvieille, France:


Abdoulaye Bamba (OG-42') and Wissam Ben Yedder (61') each scored once on Sunday as AS Monaco kept their hopes of Champions League play for next season alive after their 2-0 French Ligue 1 home blanking of Angers.


At Milan, Italy:


Rafael Leao scored the only goal of the match in the 82nd minute as AC Milan found themselves the Italian Serie A standings after their 1-0 Sunday home win over Fiorentina.


At Glasgow, Scotland:


Junior Fashion Sakala's equalizer in the 67th minute as Rangers gained a 1-1 Scottish Premiership Old Firm Derby Draw with Celtic.


Lota scored at 21 minutes for the Bhoys.


At Metropolitan State University of Denver Stadium:


Collen Warner scored the winning goal in the 10th minute as Colorado Rapids II defeated visiting Portland Timbers 2 in Saturday MLS Next Pro action 3-1.


Nats Hold Off Giants


At Oracle Park, San Francisco:


Yadiel Hernandez drove in a career-high five runs with three hits on Sunday as the Washington Nationals (8-16) held off the homestanding San Francisco Giants (14-8) 11-5.
