NBA Playoffs: Warriors Finish Off Mavs, Return To Finals
At San Francisco:
Klay Thompson scored 32 points on Thursday as the Golden State Warriors, with six players (including all five starters) scoring in double figures, held off the visiting Dallas Mavericks 120-110 in game six of the NBA's Western Conference Finals, winning the series four games to two.
The Warriors will take on the Boston-Miami East Finals in the league's championship series (the Celtics lead that series three games to two, with a chance to sew it up in Boston on Friday).
Luke Doncic scored 28 points to lead the Mavs while grabbing nine rebounds while Spencer Dimwiddie added 26 points off the bench for Dallas.
Stanley Cup Playoffs: Oilers Close Out Battle Of Alberta In OT; Canes Stay Unbeaten At Home By Beating Rangers In Raleigh
The Stanley Cup Playoffs continued on Thursday with two games.
EASTERN CONFERENCE:
At Raleigh, North Carolina:
Vincent Trocheck, Andrei Svechinikov (shorthanded), and Teuvo Teravainen (power play) each scored once as the Carolina Hurricanes held off the visiting New York Rangers 3-1 in game five of their conference semifinal series.
The Canes, up three games to two, can close out the series with a game-six win in New York on Saturday; Carolina is unbeaten at home, winless on the road.
WESTERN CONFERENCE:
At Calgary, Alberta:
Connor McDavid scored at 5:03 of overtime as the Edmonton Oilers knocked off the homestanding Calgary Flames 5-4 in game five of their conference semifinal series and took the Battle of Alberta four games to one.
The Oilers advanced to their first Western Conference Final since 2006 and will face the Colorado-St. Louis winner (the Avalanche lead their series three games to two).
