JAYHAWKS OVERCOME 16-POINT DEFICIT, UPEND TAR HEELS FOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP


At Caesars Superdome, New Orleans:


David McCormack (who grabbed ten rebounds) and Jalen Wilson each scored 15 points on Monday as the Kansas Jayhawks (#1 seed Midwest; 34-6) came back from a  deficit 16-point deficit to upend the North Carolina Tar Heels (#8 East; 29-10) 72-69 to win their fourth NCAA men's national basketball championship.


It was the largest comeback in title game history.


Remy Martin came off the bench to help the Jayhawks' cause by scoring 14 points while tournament Most Outstanding Player Ochai Agbaji and Christian Braun each added 12.


Armando Bacot and R.J. Davis each scored 15 points to pace the Heels with the former grabbing 15 boards and the latter 12.


Brady Manek tacked on 13 points and 13 boards while Caleb Love also scored 13 for Carolina.


For Kansas head coach Bill Self, it was his second title.

At Milan, Italy, Italian Serie A-leading AC Milan were held to a 0-0 home stalemate by Bologna..........Alexander Isak converted a penalty kick at the death at San Sebastian, Spain as Real Sociedad defeated visiting Espanyol 1-0 in Spanish Primera Division action.
