Thursday Roundup

 SPORTS:

Jacob Young scored 23 points and dished out 11 assists on Wednesday at Las Vegas as the Oregon Ducks (seeded #5; 19-13) outlasted the Oregon State Beavers (#12; 3-28) 86-72 in the opening round of the Pac-12 Conference's Men's Basketball Tournament.  Quincy Guerrier added 20 points to the Ducks' coffers.

Jarod Lucas paced the Beavers with 22 points as Oregon State's abysmal season came to a merciful close with an 18-game losing streak and 28 defeats, a record for most losses by a Pac-12 team.

Stanford, Washington State, and Washington also won and joined the Ducks in the quarterfinal round.

Manchester City and Real Madrid advanced on Wednesday to the UEFA Champions League's quarterfinal round at Sporting CP and PSG's expense, respectively.

Lyon and Eintracht Frankfurt won the opening contests of their respective Europa League Round of 16 series on Wednesday.

Chalk up another lopsided defeat for the Portland Trail Blazers as the Utah Jazz racked up a 123-85 home fistbeating, sending the Blazers to their sixth straight defeat, five of them by 30 or more points.

Bojan Bogdanovic led the way for the Jazz with 27 points while Trendon Watford came off the bench to top Portland with 22 points.

THOUGHTS:
