NBA Playoffs:  Celtics, Mavs Advance To Conference Finals With Game 7 Blowout Wins


The quarterfinal round of the NBA Playoffs concluded on Sunday with two games.


EASTERN CONFERENCE:


At Boston:


Grant Williams scored 27 points while Jayson Tatum added 23 (to go with his eight assists) and Jaylen Brown 19 (while grabbing eight rebounds) as the Boston Celtics dominated the visiting Milwaukee Bucks 109-81 in game seven of their conference semifinal series, which the Celtics won four games to three.


Giannis Antetokounmpo topped the Bucks with 25 points (to go with his 20 rebounds and nine assists) while Jrue Holiday added 21 (while dishing out eight assists).


The Celtics will take on the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals, set to open in Miami on Tuesday.


WESTERN CONFERENCE:


At Phoenix:


Luka Doncic scored 35 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as the Dallas Mavericks blotted out the homestanding Phoenix Suns 123-90 in game seven of their conference semifinal series, which the Mavericks won four games to three.


Spencer Dinwiddie (off the bench) and Jalen Brunson added 30 and 24 points, respectively, to the Dallas coffers.


The Mavericks will open the Western Conference Finals against the Golden State Warriors on Thursday in San Francisco.




Stanley Cup Playoffs:  Rangers, Flames Take Respective Series With Game Seven OT Wins


The opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs concluded on Sunday with two games.


EASTERN CONFERENCE:


At New York:


Artemi Panarin delivered a power-play goal at 4:46 of overtime as the New York Rangers defeated the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 to capture game seven of their conference quarterfinal series, in which the Rangers bounced back from a three-games-to-one deficit to win four games to three.  


The Rangers will open their conference semifinal series against the Carolina Hurricanes in Raleigh on Wednesday.


WESTERN CONFERENCE:


In the final game of the Playoffs' opening round, Johnny Gaudreau at 15:09 of overtime as the Calgary Flames knocked out the visiting Dallas Stars 3-2 in game seven of their series and finished off the guests four games to three.


The Flames will open their series with the Edmonton Oilers at home on Wednesday.




Cardinals Prove Too Much For Giants


At Busch Stadium, St. Louis:


Adam Wainwright pitched six innings of two-run baseball (while striking out five batters) on Sunday while Paul Goldschmidt went three for four with a home run and three runs batted in as the St. Louis Cardinals (19-15) battered the visiting San Francisco Giants (20-14) 15-6.


Yadier Molina homered and drove in four runs to help the Redbirds' cause.


Even slugger Albert Pujois came in to pitch in the ninth inning and close out the St. Louis victory.
