NBA Playoffs: Heat Finish Off Sixers; Mavs Force Game Seven With Suns
The NBA Playoffs continued on Thursday with two games.
EASTERN CONFERENCE:
At Philadelphia:
Jimmy Butler scored 32 points and grabbed eight rebounds as the Miami Heat outlasted the Philadelphia 76ers 99-90 in game six of their conference semifinal series, which they won four games to two.
Max Strus added 20 points to the Heat's coffers.
Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey each scored 20 points to pace the Sixers as the former pulled down 12 boards.
The Heat will advance to the Eastern Conference Finals for the second time in three years and will have home-court advantage against the winner of the Boston-Milwaukee series.
WESTERN CONFERENCE:
At Dallas:
Luka Doncic scored 33 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and dished out eight assists as the Dallas Mavericks played roughshod over the visiting Phoenix Suns 113-86 to square their series at three gamed apiece.
Deandre Ayton topped the Suns with 21 points to go with his eleven boards.
The series will be decided on Sunday in Phoenix.
Stanley Cup Playoffs: Blues Close Out Wild; Bruins, Lightning, Oilers Force Game Sevens
The Stanley Cup Playoffs continued on Thursday with four games.
EASTERN CONFERENCE:
At Boston:
Brad Marchand and Charlie Coyle each scored once and assisted once as the Boston Bruins downed the Carolina Hurricanes 5-2 at home to square their conference quarterfinal series at three games apiece.
The series will conclude on Saturday in Raleigh.
At Tampa, Florida:
Brayden Point scored the game winner at 18:04 of overtime as the Tampa Bay Lightning squared their series at three games apiece after their 4-3 road win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The series will be decided in Toronto on Saturday.
WESTERN CONFERENCE:
At St. Louis:
Second-period goals from Ryan O'Reilly, Tyler Bozak, and Vladimir Tarasenko, combined with a solid goaltending performance by Jordan Binnington (25 saves on 26 shots) enabled the St. Louis Blues to finish off the visiting Minnesota Wild 5-1 in game six of their opening-round series and advance to the Western Conference semifinals four games to two.
At Los Angeles:
Evander Kane scored twice as the Edmonton Oilers squared their conference quarterfinal series with the Los Angeles Kings at three games apiece after their 4-2 game-six road victory.
The series will be decided on Saturday night in Edmonton.
