NCAA Tournament:  Tigers and Hoosiers Pick Up Opening Night Wins While Ducks Win NIT Opener:


At Toledo, Ohio on Tuesday, the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament got going as the Texas Southern Tigers (19-12) outlasted the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders (23-12) 76-67 as Bryson Etienne came off the bench to lead the Tigers with 21.


In the nightcap, Trayce Jackson-Davis scored 29 points and grabbed nine rebounds to carry the Indiana Hoosiers (21-13) past the error-prone Wyoming Cowboys (25-9) 66-58.


Hunter Maldonado topped the Cowpokes with 21 points.


Meanwhile, in the opening round of the National Invitation Tournament, De'Vion Harmon scored 19 points as the Oregon Ducks (20-14) defeated the Utah State Aggies (18-16) 83-72 on the road.


Steven Ashworth came off the bench to lead the Aggies with 20 ponts.


UEFA Champions League:  Mattress Makers and Benfica Advance To Quarterfinals


Atletico Madrid and SL Benfica advanced on Tuesday to the UEFA Champions League's quarterfinal round after eliminating Manchester United and Ajax Amsterdam, respectively.


Canucks Double Up Devils


At Vancouver on Tuesday night, Bo Hovart scored twice as the Vancouver Canucks doubled up the visiting New Jersey Devis 6-3 in NHL play.
