Rough Night For Blazers, Devils
At Portland, Oregon on Wednesday night, Dejounte Murray scored 28 points Keldon Johnson added 26 as the San Antonio Spurs (29-44), with five players scoring in double figures dominated the Portland Trail Blazers (27-45) 133-96 on the road in NBA action.
Ben McLemore came off the bench to lead the Blazers with 23 while Drew Eubanks assed 20 points and nine rebounds to the Portland coffers as the Blazers have now dropped 10 of their last 13 starts.
Meanwhile, in Toronto, in NHL play, Pierre Engvall's shorthanded goal with 4:42 remaining in regulation lifted the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 3-2 home victory over the New Jersey Devils.
Timbers' Under 23 Advance In US Open Cup
At Salem, Oregon on Wednesday night, Thomas Petersen and Eduardo Sanchez each scored a goal---------in the 51st minute---as the Portland Timbers Under-23 squad (USL League 2 which is in the fourth level of American soccer) knocked off visiting Contra Costa (of the National Premier Soccer League, also in America's fourth division) 2-1 in the opening proper round of the US Open Cup tournament. 16 games were contested on Tuesday and Wednesday and you can click here for more details.
