Bryan Ruiz scored the only goal of the match in the 63rd minute as Costa Rica claimed top spot in Group C after their 1-0 victory over Jamaica as both the Ticos and Reggae Boyz had already clinched berths in the quarterfinal round.
At BBVA Stadium, Houston:
Nigel Hasselbaink scored the game winner in the 79th minute as Suriname defeated Guadeloupe 2-1 in the tourney finale for both squads.
Final Group C Standings:
1. Costa Rica (GP: 3; GD: +4; PTS: 9)
2. Jamaica (GP: 3; GD: +2; PTS: 6)
3. Suriname (GP: 3; GD: -2; PTS: 3)
4. Guadeloupe (GP: 3; GD: -4; PTS: 0)
Costa Rica and Jamaica advanced to the quarterfinal round.
GROUP D:
At BBVA Stadium, Houston:
Homan Ahmed (25') and Abdulaziz Hatem (90'+5) each scored once as Qatar blanked Honduras 2-0 to jump the Central American country and capture top spot in Group D.
At Exploria Stadium, Orlando, Florida:
Jose Rodriguez scored twice (27', 64') as Panama defeated Grenada 3-1 in what proved to be the tournament swan song for both teams.
Final Group D Standings:
1. Qatar (GP: 3; GD: +6; PTS: 7)
2. Honduras (GP: 3; GD: +3; PTS: 6)
3. Panama (GP: 3; GD: +1; PTS: 4)
4. Grenada (GP: 3; GD: -10; PTS: 0)
