Stanley Cup Playoffs: Habs Knock Off Jets In Winnipeg In Series Opener; OT Victory Stretches Avalanche Lead Over Knights To 2-0

 
Two games were played on Wednesday as the Stanley Cup Playoffs continued.


NORTH DIVISION FINAL:


At Winnipeg, Manitoba:


Jesperi Kotkaniemi, Eric Staal, Nick Suzuki, Brendan Gallagher (power play), and Jake Evans (empty net) each scored once as the Montreal Canadiens opened the North Division Final series with the Winnipeg Jets with a 5-3 road win.




WEST DIVISION FINAL:


At Denver:


Mikko Rantanen scored the game-winning power-play goal at 2:07 of overtime as the Colorado Avalanche upended the visiting Vegas Golden Knights 3-2 to stretch their West Division Final series lead to two games to one.
