Two games, both in the Western Conference, were contested in the NBA Playoffs on Thursday.
At Portland, Oregon:
Nikola Jokic scored 36 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and dished out six assists as the Denver Nuggets overcame a 14-point third-quarter and overcame the homestanding Portland Trail Blazers 126-115 in game six of their conference quarterfinal series, which the Nuggets won four games to two.
Michael Porter and Monte Morris (who put in nine assists) added 26 and 22 points respectively to Denver's coffers.
Damian Lillard topped the Blazers with 28 points while dishing out 13 assists.
C.J. McCollum added 21 points to Portland's coffers.
The Blazers could not hold on despite six players (including all five starters) scoring in double figures.
At Los Angeles:
Devin Booker scored 47 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Phoenix Suns downed the Los Angeles Lakers 113-100 on the road in game six of their series and ousted the defending champions four games to two.
LeBron James topped the Lakers with 29 points while grabbing nine rebounds and dishing out seven assists.
Dennis Schroeder added 20 points to the Los Angeles coffers.
This marked the first time that Mr. James' team was knocked out of the playoffs prior to the conference semifinals.
The Suns will host the opening game of their Western Conference semifinal series with the Denver Nuggets on Monday (7:00 PM Pacific Time, TNT).
