EURO 2020: Wales and Switzerland Draw; Finland Knock Off Denmark On Road; Belgium Too Much For Russia

Group-stage play in the European Championships continued on Saturday with three games.


GROUP A:


At Baku, Azerbaijan:


Kieffer Moore's equalizer in the 74th minute lifted Wales to a 1-1 draw with Switzerland.


Breel Embolo scored for the Red Crosses in the 49th minute.


Group A Standings:


1. Italy (GP: 1; GD: +3; PTS: 3)

2. Wales (GP: 1; GD: 0; PTS: 1)

3. Switzerland (GP: 1; GD; 0; PTS: 1)

4. Turkey (GP: 1; GD: -3; PTS: 0)

NOTE:  Wales had fewer disciplinary points than Switzerland (-1 to -2).




GROUP B:


At Copenhagen, Denmark:


Joel Pohjanpalo scored the only goal of the match in the 60th minute as Finland, playing in their first-ever game in a major tournament, knocked off Denmark 1-0.


The match was temporarily suspended in the 43rd minute when Danish Dynamite midfielder Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch.  He was transferred to a local hospital and stabilized.


At Saint Petersburg, Russia:


Romelu Lukaku scored twice (10', 88') as Belgium dominated Russia 3-0.


Group B Standings:


1. Belgium (GP: 1; GD: +3; PTS: 3)

2. Finland (GP: 1; GD: +1; PTS: 3)

3. Denmark (GP: 1; GD: -1; PTS: 0)

4. Russia (GP: 1; GD: -3; PTS: 0)
