FIFA World Cup: Morocco, Croatia, Spain, Japan Advance To Knockout Stage

 Four more games were played in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar on Thursday.


GROUP E:


At Khalifa International Stadium, Al Rayyan:


Ritsu Doan (48') and Ao Tanaka (51') each scored a goal three minutes apart early in the second half as Japan came from behind to defeat Spain 2-1 as both squads advanced to the knockout round.


At Bayt Stadium, Al Khor:


Kai Havertz scored twice (73', 85') as Germany doubled up Costa Rica 4-2 but both teams were still eliminated.


Final Group E Standings:


1. Japan (GP: 3; GD: +1; PTS: 6)

2. Spain (GP: 3; GD: +6; PTS: 4)

3. Germany (GP: 3; GD: +1; PTS: 4)

4. Costa Rica (GP: 3; GD: -8; PTS: 3)


Japan and Spain advanced to the knockout stage.



GROUP F:


At Ahmad bin Ali Stadium, Al Rayyan:


The match between Croatia and Belgium ended in a 0-0 stalemate as the Croatians clinched a berth in the knockout stage while the Red Devils were eliminated.


At Thumama Stadium, Doha:


Youssef En-Nesyri scored the game winner in the 23rd minute as Morocco won the group by defeating already-eliminated Canada 2-1.


Final Group F Standings:


1. Morocco (GP: 3; GD: +3; PTS: 7)

2. Croatia (GP: 3; GD: +3; PTS: 5)

3. Belgium (GP: 3; GD: -1; PTS: 4)

4. Canada (GP: 3; GD: -5; PTS: 0)


Morocco and Croatia advanced to the knockout stage.
