FIFA World Cup: Monaco Knock Off Spain In PKs; No Cristiano Ronaldo For Most Of The Game, No Problem For Portugal

 The Round of 16 on the FIFA World Cup concluded on Tuesday with two games in Qatar.


At Education City Stadium, Al Rayyan:


After 120 scoreless minutes, Abdelhamid Sabiri, Hakim Ziyech, and Achrat Hakimi converted their spot kicks as Morocco upended Spain 3-0 in the penalty-kick shootout.


This marked the first time the Atlas Lions (and fourth time an African country) reached the quarterfinal.


At Lusail Iconic Stadium, Lusail:


Gonzalo Ramos produced a hat trick (17', 51', 61') as Portugal, playing minus Cristiano Ronaldo until the 74th minute, destroyed Switzerland 6-1.
