National League Wild-Card Round: Phillies Finish Off Cardinals, Will Get Braves Next; Mets Deadlock Series With Padres At 1-1

 Both National League Wild-Card playoff series continued on Saturday.


At Citi Field, Flushing, New York:


Pete Alonso delivered a tie-breaking round-tripper while Jason deGrom pitched six strong innings as the New York Mets leveled their series with the visiting San Diego Padres at one game apiece (the only opening-round series to go the full three games) with a 7-3 game-two victory.


The series is set to conclude at Citi Field on Sunday (4:37 PM Pacific Time, ESPN).


At Busch Stadium, St. Louis:


Aaron Nola pitched six and two-thirds innings of four-hit baseball while Bryce Harper hit a home run as the Philadelphia Phillies completed a two-game sweep of the hosts St. Louis Cardinals by blanking the Redbirds 2-0.


The Phils will open their divisional playoff series with the Atlanta Braves on the road on Tuesday.
