 Both National League divisional playoff series opened on Tuesday as the Major League Baseball playoffs resumed.

Nick Castellanos drove in three runs and came up with a key defensive play to help the Philadelphia Phillies hold off the homestanding Atlanta Braves 7-6 in the opening game of their best-of-five divisional playoff series.

At Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles:

A homer and a double from Trey Turner helped the Los Angeles Dodgers open their series with the San Diego Padres with a 5-3 game-one home victory.
