Timbers Blank Loons For Fourth Straight Victory, Jump Up Two Placed In Standings

At Providence Park, Portland, Oregon:


Dairon Asprilla's goal in the 61st minute on Saturday carried the Portland Timbers to a 1-0 Major League Soccer home victory over Minnesota United.


The Timbers picked up their season-long fourth successive win, which enabled them to climb up two spots to fifth place in the Western Conference standings.


Aljaz Ivacic made five saves to preserve both the shutout (his sixth of the season) and victory.


Portland will try to make it five wins in a row as they visit the Columbus Crew next Sunday at 10:00 AM Pacific Time on ESPN.
