In the final game of the United States Football League's regular season, Donald Payne ran back an intercepted Zach Smith pass ten yards for the opening touchdown as the Houston Gamblers (3-7) handcuffed the New Orleans Breakers (6-4) 20-3 for their second straight victory.


The Breakers will face the Birmingham Stallions in the second half of a playoff semifinal doubleheader at Canton Ohio on Saturday night.
