Stanley Cup Playoffs: Avalanche Complete Sweep Of Oilers, Advance To First Final Since 2001
At Edmonton, Alberta:
Artturi Lehkonen scored the winning goal 79 seconds into overtime on Monday as the Colorado Avalanche knocked off the homestanding Edmonton Oilers 6-5 to complete a four-game Western Conference Final series sweep of the Edmonton Oilers (and ending any hope of a Canadian team winning the Stanley Cup for the first time since 1993) and advanced to their first Stanley Cup Final since defeating the New Jersey Devils in 2001.
Six different Colorado players (including Cale Makar, who assisted four times) each scored once.
The Avalanche, who will face either the New York Rangers or Tampa Bay Lightning in the Final, are unbeaten on the road in seven playoff games.
