NBA Playoffs: Celitcs Complete Sweep Of Nets; Raptors Stay Alive, Force Game Six With Sixers; Mavs Take 3-2 Series Lead on Jazz
The NBA Playoffs continued on Monday with three games.
EASTERN CONFERECE:
At Brooklyn, New York:
Jayson Tatum scored 29 points while Jaylen Brown added 22 (to go with his eight rebounds) and Marcus Smart 20 (to go with his 11 assists) as the Boston Celtics completed their four-game conference quarterfinal series sweep of the Brooklyn Nets with a 116-112 game-four road victory.
Kevin Durant topped the Nets with 39 points (to go with his seven rebounds and nine assists) while Seth Curry added 23 and Kyrie Irving 20.
At Philadelphia:
Pascal Siakam scored 23 points and grabbed ten rebounds as the Toronto Raptors again avoided elimination by defeating the Philadelphia 76ers 103-88 on the road in game five of their series.
Joel Embiid scored 20 points to lead the Sixers while grabbing 11 rebounds.
Philadelphia, still up three games to two, can still wrap up the series with a game-six victory in Toronto on Thursday.
WESTERN CONFERENCE:
At Dallas:
Luka Doncic scored 33 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as the Dallas Mavericks dominated the visiting Utah Jazz 102-77 in game five of their series, which the Mavericks now lead three games to two.
Jalen Brunson added 25 points to the Mavs' coffers.
Jordan Clarkson came off the bench to lead the Jazz with 20 points.
Dallas can close out the series with a game-six victory in Salt Lake City on Thursday.
Giants Top Brewers To Close Out 8-3 Road Trip
At American Family Field, Milwaukee:
Luis Gonzales banged his first Major League Baseball home run, a two-run shot with two outs in the ninth inning on Monday as the San Francisco Giants (12-5) closed out an 8-3 road trip with a 4-2 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers (10-7).
T2 Pick Up Another Shootout Victory
At Hillsboro Stadium (Hillsboro, Oregon)
After a 1-1 regulation draw, Nathan Fogaca, Julian Bravo, Blake Bodily (who scored at regulation at 55 minutes), and Tega Ikoba all converted their spot kicks as Portland Timbers 2 defeated visiting Real Monarchs 4-2 in the penalty-kick shootout on Sunday.
