MUSKETEERS UPEND AGGIES IN OT FOR NIT CROWN


At New York's venerable Madison Square Garden on Friday, Jack Nunge, who scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, converted the go-ahead shot with 3.1 seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Xavier Musketeers (23-13) to a 73-72 victory over the Texas A&M Aggies (27-13) win their first National Invitation Tournament championship since 1958.


Colby Jones paced the Musketeers with 21 points.


Quenton Jackson topped the Aggies with 23 points.


It may have been the last NIT title game to be played at MSG for at least the next few years.




Bruins Devour Devils At Home; New Jersey Eliminated From Playoff Contention


At Boston on Thursday night, Brad Marchand scored twice as the Boston Bruins annihilated the visiting New Jersey Devils 8-1, officially eliminating the Devils from Stanley Cup Playoff contention.


New Jersey will miss the playoffs for the fourth straight year and the ninth time in ten seasons.
