At SoFi Stadium, Inglewood, California:
Quarterback Matthew Stafford threw for three touchdowns (two to game Most Valuable Player Cooper and one to Odell Beckham, Jr.) on Sunday while defensive Aaron Donald came up with a key fourth-down stop in the final seconds as the Los Angeles Rams won their first Super Bowl championship in 22 years (and their second overall) by coming back from behind to overcome the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20.
This was the Rams' second Super Bowl crown, the other coming after the 1999 season when they were based in St. Louis.
The Bengals how now dropped three Super Bowl games---all by single-possession margins while still looking to win their first Vince Lombardi Trophy; quarterback Joe Burrow threw a 75-yard touchdown pass to Tee Higgins (who also caught a TD pass courtesy of running back Joe Mixon).
Los Angeles head coach Sean McVea, at age 36, became the youngest head coach to win a Super Bowl.
The Rams' triumph was the first for a Los Angeles club since the then-Los Angeles Raiders ambushed the Washington Redskins in Super Bowl XVIII in Tampa, 38 years ago.
