UEFA Champions League, Group A: Citizens, PSG Advance To Knockout Stage

UEFA Champions League group-stage play continued with eight games on Wednesday, two of them in Group A.


At Manchester, England:


Gabriel Jesus scored the winning goal in the 76th minute as Manchester City defeated visiting Paris Saint-Germain 2-1 with both clubs bound for the tournament's knockout stage and the Citizens locking up top spot in Group A.


At Bruges, Belgium:


Christopher Nkunku (12', 90'+3) and Emil Forsberg (PK-17, 45'+1) each scored twice as RB Leipzig destroyed Club Brugge 5-0 on the road as both clubs are battling for a Europa League knockout stage berth.


Group A Standings:


1. y-Manchester City (GP: 5; GD: +9; PTS: 12)

2. x-Paris Saint-Germain (GP: 5; GD: +2; PTS: 8)

3. z-RB Leipzig (GP: 5; GD: 0; PTS: 4)

4. z-Club Brugge (GP: 5; GD: -11; PTS: 4)


NOTE: As RB Leipzig and Club Brugge split their two games,  the German club outscored their Belgian counterparts 6-2.


y-Won Group A and qualified for the Champions League's knockout stage

z-Qualified for the Champions League's knockout stage

z-Eliminated from the Champions League but still alive for a berth in the Europa League's knockout stage
