Sebastian Blanco scored twice (47', 66') and Larrys Mabiala once (43') on Sunday as the Portland Timbers won an MLS Cup playoff game for the first time in three years after overtaking visiting Minnesota United 3-1 in a Western Conference first-round match.
Franco Fragapane put the Loons on the scoreboard in the 11th minute.
The Timbers will play in the first-ever Thanksgiving Day MLS contest this coming Thursday as they visit the Colorado Rapids in a Western Conference semifinal contest (1:30 PM Pacific Time, FOX).
