Sensational Goal Helps Timbers Snap Losing Skid, Knock Quakes Out Of Playoff Contention

 At Providence Park, Portland, Oregon:


On Wednesday night, Dairon Asprilla delivered one of the year's most sensational goals (below) with his bicycle kick in the 55th minute to help the

Portland Timbers blank the visiting San Jose Earthquakes 2-0 in Major League Soccer action.




Diego Chara also scored for the Timbers in the 34th minute.


The win ended Portland's three-match losing run while the defeat ended any hope for the Quakes to sneak into the postseason.


The Timbers' next match is set for next Wednesday as they visit Real Salt Lake in a critical contest (ESPN 2, 7:00 PM Pacific Time)
