MLS: Revs Set New Single-Season Points Record; Five Stripes, Nashville (Who Clinch Playoff Berth), Crew, DC, CityZens, RSL, SKC, Timbers, Caps Also Garner Wednesday Wins; Quakes Eliminated

 11 games were contested in Major League Soccer on Wednesday.


At Foxborough, Massachusetts:


Tajon Buchanan scored the only goal of the match in the 74th minute as the New England Revolution held off the visiting Colorado Rapids 1-0 to set a new MLS single-season points record with 73.


Revs' head coach Bruce Arena tied Sigi Schmid for most regular-season victories with 240. 


At Atlanta:


Luis Araujo (59') and Josef Martinez (73') each scored once as Atlanta United delivered a crippling blow to Inter Miami's playoff chances by holding off the visiting Herons 2-1.


At Cincinnati:


Randall Leal (45'+2, 76') and C.J. Sapong (71', 90'+2) each scored twice as Nashville doubled up hosts Cincinnati 6-3 to lock up an MLS Cup Playoff berth.


For the Orange and Blue, they assured themselves of finishing with the league's worst record for the third straight year.


At Columbus, Ohio:


Lucas Zelarayan scored the winning goal in the 61st minute as the Columbus Crew kept their playoff chances alive after holding off visiting Orlando City 3-2.


At Washington:


Kevin Paredes scored the game's lone goal in the ninth minute as DC United defeated the visiting New York Red Bulls 1-0.


At New York:


Valentin Castellanos converted a penalty kick in the 51st minute for the game's only goal as New York City doused the visiting Chicago Fire 1-0.


At Toronto:


Alejandro Bedoya (1') and Sergio Santos (77') each scored once to lift the Philadelphia Union to a 2-2 road draw with Toronto FC.


Jozy Altidore (66') and Jack Elliot (OG-70') each scored once for the already-eliminated Reds. 


At Frisco, Texas:


Albert Rusnak scored the winning goal in the 90th minute as Real Salt Lake defeated FC Dallas 2-1 on the road.


At Kansas City, Kansas:


Johnny Russel scored twice (40', 82') as Sporting Kansas City moved back to the top of the Western Conference standings after blanking the visiting Los Angeles Galaxy 2-0.


At Portland, Oregon:


Diego Chara (34') and Dairon Asprilla (55') each scored once, the latter with a sensational bicycle kick, as the Portland Timbers inched closer to clinching a playoff berth by blanking the visiting San Jose Earthquakes 2-0 to snap a three-game losing skid.


The defeat eliminated the Quakes from playoff contention.


At Vancouver, British Columbia:


Brian White scored the game winner at 63 minute as the Vancouver Whitecaps held off visiting Minnesota United 2-1.
