At Vienna, Austria:
Taxiarchis Fountas (29') and Ercan Kara (78'), and Marco Grull (86') each scored once as Rapid Vienna dominated visiting Zorya Luhansk 3-0 in their series opener.
At Istanbul, Turkey:
Muhammed Gumuskaya scored the only goal of the match in the 65th minute as Fenerbahce got the measure of visiting HJK Helsinki 1-0 in their series opener.
At Murska Sobata, Slovenia:
Otar Kiteishvilli scored the winning goal in the 61st minute as Sturm Graz defeated NK Mura 3-1 on the road in game one.
At Nicosia, Cyprus:
Loizos Loizou scored twice (43', 56') as Omonia doubled up visiting Royal Antwerp 4-2 in their series opener.
At Piraeus, Greece:
Mohamed Camara (37'), Pepe Sisse (52'), and Vasil Bozhikov (OG-68') each scored once as Olympiacos opened their series with Slovan Bratislava by dominating their Slovak guests 3-0.
At Glasgow, Scotland:
Alfredo Morelos scored the only goal of the match in the 67th minute as Rangers defeated visiting Alashkert 1-0 in their series-opening contest.
At Prague, Czech Republic:
Alexander Bah (33') and Lukas Masopust (45'+3) each scored once as Slavia Prague gained a series-opening 2-2 home draw with Legia Warsaw.
Mahir Emreli (20') and Josip Juranovic (37') each scored once for the Polish club.
