Europa League Qualifying: Bhoys, Omonia, Rapid Vienna, Slovan Bratislava Take Series Openers

 Seven games were played on Thursday as the third round of Europa League qualifying reached its' midway point.


Champions Path:


At Strovolos, Cyprus:


Marinos Tzionis scored the only goal of Omonia's series-opening 1-0 home victory over FC Flora in the 12th minute.


At Murska Sobota, Slovenia:


The opening contest between Mura and visiting Zalgiris ended in a 0-0 stalemate.


At Almaty, Kazakhstan:


Kairat and visiting Alashkert opened their series with twin goose eggs----a 0-0 deadlock.


At Istanbul, Turkey:


Sacha Boey's equalizer in the 60th minute carried Galatasaray to a 1-1 game-one home draw with St. Johnstone.


Jason Kerr converted a penalty kick in the 58th minute for the Saints.


At Gibraltar:


Jaromir Zmrhal scored the game winner in the 48th minute as Slovan Bratislava defeated Lincoln Red Imps 3-1 on the road in their series-opening match.




Main Path:


At Jablonec nad Nisou, Czech Republic:


James Forrest scored the winning goal in the 64th minute as Celtic defeated hosts Jablonec 4-2 in their series opener.


At Vienna, Austria:


Ercan Kara (35'), Taxiarchis Fountas (85'), and Marco Grull (83') each scored once as Rapid Vienna dominated visiting Anorthosis Famagusta 3-0 in their series opener.
