CONCACAF Gold Cup: Honduras Too Much For Grenada; Qatar and Panama Draw

At BBVA Stadium, Houston:


The first cycle of group-stage games in the CONCACAF Gold Cup  concluded on Tuesday with two games in Group D.


Game #1:


Rolando Blackburn scored twice (51', 58') and Eric Davis once (PK-79') as Panama battled back from three one-goal deficits to gain a 3-3 draw with Qatar.


Akram Afif (48'), Almoez Ali (53'), and Hassan Al-Haydos (PK-63') each scored once for the Qataris.


All six goals were scored in the second half.


Game #2:


Honduras vs. Grenada, 6:00 PM Pacific Time


Jerry Bengston (28'), Edwin Solano (52'), Johnny Leveron (85'), and Romell Quioto (88') each scored once as Honduras demolished Grenada 4-0.





Group D Standings:


1. Honduras (GP: 1; GD: +4; PTS: 0)

2. Panama (GP: 1; GD: 0; PTS; 1)

3. Qatar (GP: 1; GD: 0; PTS: 1)

4. Grenada (GP: 1; GD: -4; PTS: 0)
