At Bucharest, Romania:
After a 3-3 regulation draw that was followed by 30 scoreless overtime minutes, Mario Gravanovic, Fabian Schar, Manuel Akanji, Ruben Vargas, and Admir Medmedi converted their spot goals as Switzerland upended France 5-4 in the penalty-kick shootout.
Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer saved Karim Benema's spot kick in the shootout to secure a spot in the quarterfinal round for the Red Crosses.
