Euro 2020: Belgium Wins Group B; Denmark, Austria Advance To Knockout Stage

 Four games were played in the European Championship's group stage on Monday.


GROUP B:


At Copenhagen, Denmark:


Mikkel Damsgaard (38'), Yussuf Poulsen (59'), Andreas Christensen (79'), Joakim Maehle (82') each scored once as Denmark dominated Russia 4-1 and advanced to the knockout stage.


At Saint Petersburg, Russia:


Lukas Hradecky (OG-74') and Romelu Lukaku (81') each scored once as Belgium locked up top spot in Group B after defeating Finland 2-0.


Final Group B Standings:


1. Belgium (GP: 3; GD: +6; PTS: 9)

2. Denmark (GP: 3; GD: +1; PTS: 3)

3. Finland (GP: 3; GD: -2; PTS: 3)

4. Russia (GP: 3; GD: -5; PTS: 3)


NOTES:  Belgium and Denmark advanced to the knockout stage; Finland can still advance as one of the four best third-placed teams; on head-to-head-to-head goal difference, it's Denmark +2, Finland 0, Russia, -2.




GROUP C:


At Amsterdam, Neterlands:


Georginio Wijnaldum scored twice (50', 58') as the Netherlands dominated North Macedonia 3-0.


At Bucharest, Romania:


Christoph Baumgartner scored the only goal of the match in the 21st minute as Austria locked up a berth in the knockout stage after beating Ukraine 1-0.


Final Group C Standings:


1. Netherlands (GP: 3; GD: +6; PTS: 9)

2. Austria (GP: 3; GD: +1; PTS: 6)

3. Ukraine (GP: 3; GD: -1; PTS: 3)

4. North Macedonia (GP: 3; GD: -6; PTS: 0)


The Netherlands and Austria advanced to the knockout stage; Ukraine can still advance as one of the four best third-placed teams.
