It was the Three Lions' first knockout-round victory over the Germans since winning the 1966 World Cup Final at the original Wembley Stadium in London.
At Glasgow, Scotland:
Artym Dovbyk scored the overtime game winner at the death (120'+1) as Ukraine defeated Sweden 2-1.
