Euro 2020: Germany, Spain, Portugal Lock Up Round-of-16 Berths

 Group-stage play in the European Championship concluded on Wednesday with four games.


GROUP E:


At Seville, Spain:


Martin Dubravka's own goal in the 30th minute opened the floodgates as five players each scored once as Spain locked up a berth in the knockout stage by destroying Slovakia 5-0.


At Saint Petersburg, Russia:


Emil Peter Forsberg scored twice (2', 59') while Viktor Claesson added the game winner at the death (90'+4) as Sweden defeated Poland 3-2 to win Group E.


Final Group E Standings:


1. Sweden (GP: 3; GD: +2; PTS: 7)

2. Spain (GP: 3; GD: +5; PTS: 5)    

3. Slovakia (GP: 3; GD: -5; PTS: 3)

4. Poland (GP: 3; GD: -2; PTS: 1)


Sweden and Spain advanced to the knockout stage.




GROUP F:


At Budapest, Hungary:


Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice (PK-31', PK-60') as Portugal gained a 2-2 draw with France to advance to the knockout stage.


Karim Benzema scored both goals (PK-42', 47') for Les Bleus, who finished atop Group B.


At Munich, Germany:


Kai Havertz (66') and Leon Goretzka (84') each scored once as Germany locked up a berth in the knockout stage by gaining a 2-2 draw with Hungary.


Adam Szalai (11') and Andras Schafer (68') each scored once for the Magyars. 


Final Group F Standings:


1. France (GP: 3; GD: +1; PTS: 5)

2. Germany (GP: 3; GD: +1; PTS: 4)

3. Portugal (GP: 3; GD: +1; PTS: 4)

4. Hungary (GP: 3; GD: -3; PTS; 2)


France, Germany, and Portugal advanced to the knockout stage.
