The third and final cycle of group-stage games in the European Championship opened with two Group A games on Sunday.
At Baku, Azerbaijan:
Xherdan Shaqin scored twice (28', 68') as Switzerland kept their hopes of advancing to the knockout stage alive by eliminating Turkey 3-1.
At Rome:
Matteo Pessina scored the only goal in the 36th minute as Italy sewed up top spot in Group A by defeating visiting Wales 1-0.
Despite the defeat, the Dragons still advanced to the knockout stage.

1. Italy (GP: 3; GD: +7; PTS: 9)
2. Wales (GP: 3; GD: +1; PTS: 4)
3. Switzerland (GP: 3; GD: -1; PTS: 4)
4. Turkey (GP: 3; GD: -7; PTS: 0)
NOTES: Italy and Wales (due to the overall goal differential tiebreaker advantage over Switzerland) advanced to the knockout stage; Switzerland is still alive to advance as one of the four best third-placed teams.
