Stanley Cup Playoffs: Hurricanes, Leafs, One Win Away From Divisional Finals

 Two games were played in the Stanley Cup Playoffs on Tuesday.


CENTRAL DIVISION:


At Raleigh, North Carolina:


Martin Mecas scored twice (once on the power play) while Jordan Staal scored the game winner at 2:03 of overtime as the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the visiting Nashville Predators 3-2 in game five of their divisional semifinal series.


The Hurricanes, up three games to two, can close out the Predators with a game-six victory in Nashville on Thursday (6:30 PM Pacific Time, NBCSN).




NORTH DIVISION:


At Montreal:


William Nylander, Jason Spezza, Joe Thornton (power play), and Alex Galchenyuk (empty net) each scored once while Jack Campbell saved all 32 shots as the Toronto Maple Leafs dominated the Montreal Canadiens 4-0 on the road in game four of their divisional semifinal series.


The Leafs, up three games to one, can finish off the Habs and advance to the North Division Final against Winnipeg with a game-five victory back home in Toronto on Thursday (4:00 PM Pacific Time, NBCSN).
