NBA Playoffs: LaBron's Heroics Send Lakers Into Encounter With Suns; Warriors To Face Grizzlies For Shot At Jazz; Spurs Eliminated

 The preliminary round of the NBA Playoffs continued on Wednesday with two Western Conference games.


At Memphis, Tennessee:


Dillon Brooks scored 24 points while Jonas Valanciumas added 23 (to go with his 23 rebounds) and JA Morant 20 as the Memphis Grizzlies held off the visiting San Antonio Spurs 100-96 to earn the right to face the Golden State Warriors in a one-game playoff for a berth in the Western  Conference quarterfinals.


The loss ended the Spurs' season despite 20 points each from Demar DeRozan and Rudy Gay (the latter coming off the bench).


At Los Angeles:


LeBron James, who scored 22 points (to go with his 11 points and 10 assists), converted the go-ahead three-point shot with 58.2 seconds remaining as lift the Los Angeles Lakers to a 103-100 home victory over the Golden State Warriors and a berth in the Western Conference quarterfinals, where they will meet the Phoenix Suns in a best-of-seven series.


Anthony Davis paced the Lakers with 25 points to go with 12 boards.


Stephan Curry topped the Warriors with 37 points (while grabbing seven rebounds) while Andrew Wiggins added 21.


The Warriors will host the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday for a chance to take on the Utah Jazz in the Round of 16.
