At Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis:
The NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament's semifinal round took place on Saturday with two games.
Game #1:
Jared Butler scored 17 points as the Baylor Bears (#1 South; 27-2) used a balanced offense (with five players scoring in double figures) to overpower the Houston Cougars (#2 Midwest; 28-4) 78-59 to reach their first championship game since 1948 (when they lost to Kentucky 58-42 at New York City's old Madison Square Garden).
Marcus Sasser powered the Cougars with 20 points.
Game #2:
Jalen Suggs, who scored 16 points, sank in the game-winning three-point shot at the buzzer in overtime to lift the Gonzaga Bulldogs (#1 West; 31-0) to a 93-90 victory over the UCLA Bruins (#11 East; 22-10) to reach their second tournament championship game (the other was in 2017, when they fell to North Carolina 71-65 at Glendale, Arizona).
Drew Timme top the Zags with 25 points while Joel Ayayi added 22 points.
Johnny Juzang paced the Bruins with 29 points.
The Bulldogs will take on Baylor on Monday night (6:20 PM Pacific Time, CBS) with a chance to complete the first perfect season since the 1975-76 Indiana Hoosiers.
