The NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament's Round of 32 concluded on Saturday with fifteen of the scheduled 16 games contested (7 of the 8 in the West Region) in Indiana:
At Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Indianapolis:
Corey Kispert scored 23 points as the top overall-seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs (27-0) demolished the sixteenth-seeded Norfolk State Spartans (17-8) 98-55.
Evan Mobley scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the sixth-seeded Southern California Trojans (23-7) proved too much for the 11th-seeded Drake Bulldogs (26-5) 72-56.
Joseph Yesufu topped the Bulldogs with 26 points but was the only Drake player to score in double figures.
At Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis:
Austin Reeves scored 23 points as the eighth-seeded Oklahoma Sooners (16-10) topped former Big 8/Big 12 rivals Missouri (16-10) 72-68.
Dru Smith paced the ninth-seeded Tigers with 20 points.
Christian Bishop sank two free throws with 16 seconds remaining as the fifth-seeded Creighton Blue Jays (21-8) overcame a scare from the 12th-seeded UC Santa Barbara Gauchos (22-5) 63-62.
Marcus Zagarowski topped the Blue Jays with 17 points while dishing out eight assists.
At Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, Bloomington:
Ben Vander Plas scored 17 points as the 13th-seeded Ohio U Bobcats (17-7) ended the fourth-seeded Virginia Cavaliers' (18-7) two-year reign as national champs 62-58.
At Indiana Farmers Coliseum, Indianapolis:
David McCormick came off the bench to score 22 points and grab nine rebounds as the third-seeded Kansas Jayhawks (21-8) topped the #14-seeded Eastern Washington Eagles (16-8) 93-84.
Ochai Agbali and Marcus Garrett contributed 21 and 20 respectively to the Jayhawks's coffers with the former grabbing seven boards and the latter eight.
Tanner Groves scored 35 points to top the Eagles while Jacob Groves added 23 (to go with his nine rebounds).
Luka Garza scored 24 points to lead the second-seeded Iowa Hawkeyes (22-8) past the fifteenth-seeded Grand Canyon Antelopes (17-7) 86-74.
The scheduled contest between seventh-seeded Oregon and tenth-seeded Virginia Commonwealth was declared a no-contest due to COVID-19 issues within the Rams' program.
The Ducks advanced to the Round of 32 and will take on Iowa on Monday.
