UEFA Champions League: Blancos, Citizens Take Series Opener

 The UEFA Champions League's Round-of-16 reached its' midway point on Wednesday with the opening game of each of two series.


At Budapest, Hungary (due to COVID-19-related restrictions on travel from Great Britain to Germany):


Bernardo Silva (29') and Gabriel Jesus (65') each scored once as Manchester City blanked Borussia Monchengladbach 2-0 in their series opener.


The victory was the Citizens' 19th straight in all competitions.


At Bergamo, Italy:


Ferland Mendy knocked in a sensational bicycle kick for the lone goal of the match in the 86th minute as Real Madrid knocked off hosts Atalanta 1-0 in game one.
